Financial News Update we 02/09/2011

Not sure about you but I watched the 9/11 programme last night – one of many to be aired over the next week or so I am sure – and couldn’t believe that it has already been 10 years, almost to the day, since those terrible events… I then found myself remembering what life was like 10 years ago?…

It was “life before children” for me and I was more of a “general” financial planner; helping newly qualified solicitors, for example, purchase their first house, begin their retirement savings and so on.

People were saying that the property boom wouldn’t last forever – and yes they were right…eventually!

There was also the air of “the only way is up” as most thought the technology bubble bursting was our comeuppance for being so optimistically bullish –we were soon to learn otherwise…

Hindsight, as they say, is such a wonderful thing – how differently would you have acted, had you known then what you know now?

But that is so often the problem, we really don’t know what the future holds and can only plan for what we hope to do as much as what we hope to avoid…

Like most I don’t have a crystal ball but I do have time (as far as I know!) and I do have a choice – I can either choose to do something or I can choose not to.

We are what we create so it makes sense that if you want something to be different to what it is today; you need to do something different tomorrow.

We can all procrastinate at stages in our life but action is sometimes needed as without action all you have is inaction and, after all, whilst you can always hope for the best you should still prepare for the worst.
